It’s a brand New Year!

Hello All,
It’s a brand new year. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. My family and I sure did. Our oldest son was able to come home. It’s always great when the whole family can come together for the holiday.

I have been reading a lot of post of New Year’s resolutions. Years ago I used to make resolutions only to have them go to the way side so I stopped making them. Instead, I make one list and simply tittle it with the year’s date “2012.” On the list I put everything I know I can accomplice and things I want to accomplice. The list is everything from itty bitty items to long drawn out projects like projects for the house, traveling, places to go locally and yes genealogy. Then beside the main item I take it further and include any details for example genealogy. I list every surname I still need to work on and decide the name I list what still needs to be done to finish the research. Of course I have a few surnames that have brick walls that go on the New Year’s list every year. Someday I hope I can finally take them off.

I have discovered this is the best way for me to stay the course to accomplice what I want to get done for the year. Guess you can call some of these goals to work towards but I don’t call them that.

Before the holidays hit I was working my way through every surname I have. Entering information I didn’t have in my Family Tree program, pitching papers I didn’t need. I did get through all most all the surnames. There are two I wasn’t even going to touch until the last. These two are the very first names I stated researching, probably around 20 years ago. I left those two for last on purpose. They are the ones I have the most information on. So I knew they would take the longest to get through.

Well, as I said the holidays were getting closer, everything was going along smoothly, then my computer screwed up and somehow I lost the entire Peterson Family Tree file. So, one item on my list for this year is to reenter the whole line which probably consists of 300 to 400 names, dates, places, etc. The good thing is I have everything printed out so I never really lost all the information. I just lost all the time entering it into the Family Tree program.

My biggest project that I want to start on this year is my maiden name “Warren.” I would like to put a book together but before I can even think of a book I have to wade through a hug, hug crate, which takes 2 people to carry. It has all the Warren information in it. Right now I couldn’t tell you what I have entered into the computer and what’s not. I’ve done a lot of traveling so also have tons of pictures to include. I have a lot of work ahead of me but it’s a labor of love and in the end it’ll be worth it.

Oh, yes, one other thing. I’m thinking of moving this blog from blogger to wordpress. I have always heard and read you can do a lot more with them than blogger. Again, I’m just in the thinking stages.

Be Healthy and Safe in the New Year!

Tammy
